Music as memory – concert introduction by the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra

17/05/2025

As part of a memorial concert marking the end of the Second World War, our PI Félix Krawatzek discussed the political dimension of music under totalitarian regimes with Prof. Dr Friedrich Geiger. The introduction took place on 17 May before performances of Shostakovich's ‘Leningrad’ Symphony and Bloch's ‘Schelomo’ – works that oscillate between pain and hope.

The concert was accompanied by a school project (‘Never Again!’) and a generational initiative for young and older concertgoers.

More information about the event can be found here and in the programme booklet here.
