Annual Report

The year 2022 was overshadowed by Russia’s attack on Ukraine, which also had an impact on research at ZOiS. Even though the developments surrounding the war occupied our attention, the first evaluation and the anniversary celebration of the Institute also took place this year.

2021 was dominated by our theme year #30PostSovietYears. Thirty years after the end of the Soviet Union, we traced the dynamics and consequences of the upheaval. In addition, a number of new research projects were launched, and, for the first time, a trainee begann her training in research communication at ZOiS.

For ZOiS, too, 2020 was no ordinary year. We look at the impact of Covid-19 on our work, introduce the new research cluster ‘Political Economy and Integration’, describe the work of the Research Management department, and provide an overview of all ZOiS events, publications, and other activities.

The ZOiS Annual Report gives a detailed overview of the vision, objectives, research projects, cooperations, events, publications and further activities of ZOiS. It is published annually and is available both in print and digital format.

Als besonderes Schwerpunktthema blicken wir 2018 auf die Wissenschaftskommunikation und die Frage, wie man Menschen erreicht, die selbst nicht in der Wissenschaft tätig sind. Außerdem berichten die wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiter*innen von Entwicklungen, die ihre Arbeit 2018 beeinflusst und was sie im Zusammenhang mit ihren Projekten gelernt haben.

Das Jahr 2017 stand im Zeichen der offiziellen Eröffnung des ZOiS mit einem feierlichen Festakt und der ersten Jahreskonferenz. Darüber hinaus beantworten die wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiter*innen Fragen zur Wahl ihrer Projektthemen, zu den spannendsten Momenten auf Forschungsreisen und zur überraschendsten Erkenntnis des Jahres.
