Herrenhäuser Gespräch: Wie autoritäre Systeme die Kunst instrumentalisieren
Félix Krawatzek will participate as a panel guest at the Herrenhäuser Gespräch in Hanover on 10 March 2026. The event is entitled ‘How authoritarian systems instrumentalise art’ and will address the question of how governments around the world use culture and art to exert political influence.
Together with other experts from the fields of musicology, law and museology, he will discuss the strategies used by authoritarian regimes to control or promote cultural narratives that support their ideology. The discussion will also focus on current developments in Russia, China and parts of Europe, as well as the question of how artists and cultural institutions can preserve their autonomy.
The discussion will take place at the Schloss Herrenhausen conference centre in Hanover and is being organised by the Volkswagen Foundation and NDR Kultur. The event begins at 7 p.m. and admission is free. NDR Kultur will record the evening and is expected to broadcast the discussion on the radio on 12 April 2026.
