Biography

Gaëlle Le Pavic is an associate postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Social Work and Social Pedagogy at Ghent University and a fellow at the United Nations University – CRIS, in Bruges, Belgium. Her doctoral research examined the social consequences of contested borders in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. Her current postdoctoral work focuses on migration in the context of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, with a particular emphasis on social support across different settings.

Previously, Gaëlle worked for several years in project management and international cooperation in Russia, Croatia and Belgium. She also contributed as a researcher to EU-funded projects (InHere and RefugeeWellSchools) addressing the social dimensions of migration.

At ZOiS, Gaëlle is conducting research with Dr. Sabine von Löwis about Ukrainians displaced to Transnistria since 2022. Additionally, she is working on a research proposal for postdoctoral grant applications.
