Der Schwerpunkt lag auf dem Thema Fake News. Wissenschaftler*innen des ZOiS skizzierten den Weg einer Falschnachricht, gingen auf die Instrumentalisierung von Umfragen ein und beleuchteten die Wirkung von Erinnerungsgesetzen. Ein weiteres Thema war, inwiefern die russische Sprache Eigentums Russlands ist.

Durch das Ende der Sowjetunion und die neue Religionsfreiheit erwachte in den Regionen der atheistischen ehemaligen Sowjetunion das religiöse Leben in ungekannter Vielfalt. Das Erbe der Verhandlungen um die Religionsfreiheit prägt bis heute das Verhältnis der Religionen untereinander und zur weitgehend säkularen Gesellschaft.

The event shed light on diverging perspectives on the European security order at the time. How compatible were the ideas on the level of state politics with those at the level of civil movements? What were the limitations of the new vision? What are the prospects for cooperative security in Europe today?

Generational renewal is a vector of social and political change in any society. A shared generational outlook can sometimes explain the dynamics that unfold during moments of profound rupture. We will discuss and also contextualise the changes that 1991 symbolises in a wider European and global context.

Olia Breininger is a writer, digital artist and literary anthropologist. Yelena Furman publishes on contemporary Russian women writers and teaches Russian literature.

Die dramatischen Ereignisse in Folge der Präsidentschaftswahlen vom August 2020 in Belarus prägte von Anfang ein hohes Maß an kreativem Bottom-Up-Aktivismus. Noch bevor es zur Massenmobilisierung kam, setzte der belarusische Widerstand auf visuelle und theatralische Mittel des politischen Engagements, um die Aufmerksamkeit auf verschleierte Missstände in Staat und Gesellschaft zu richten.

This roundtable brings together four internationally renowned scholars of social mobilisation. They will discuss local, regional and global perspectives on the politics from below, focusing on the actors and strategies of mobilisation, the issues and emotions at stake, the linkages between different protests, political responses to protests, and the effects of mobilization.

This keynote lecture by Jan Kubik puts in perspective global trends in mobilization. Starting from the current Polish situation, it will reflect on four interrelated issues: the relationship between top-down and bottom-up mechanisms of mobilization, the role of mobilization resources, the intensifying mythologization of right-wing discourses, and the dilemmas of liberal counter-mobilizations.
