This workshop was about transforming research into a tool for societal impact. Together, participants explored ways of highlighting the broader significance of their work, communicating insights effectively to policymakers, and designing strategies that address urgent global challenges. In interactive discussions, they developed concrete approaches for creating meaningful impact beyond academia.

                                    Julia Langbein has been leading the ZOiS research cluster Political Economy and Integration since January 2020. In her research, she deals with the integration of (semi-) peripheral economies into transnational markets and the consequences for their economic and political development. Her regional focus lies on Eastern Europe and European economic integration, while also taking into account the role of China’s economic engagement. Julia has extensive experience in communicating her research findings to policy-makers.
                                    Hanna Vakhitova is an assistant professor and senior economist at the Kyiv School of Economics (Ukraine) and a visiting fellow at Syddansk Universitet (Denmark). Hanna’s main research interest are migration economics (labour migrants, IDPs) with a focus on the skills dimension and employment. Hanna has over 18 years of experience in data analysis, impact evaluation and country studies for institutes like the World Bank, the International Organization for Migration, the International Labour Organization, the European Training Foundation, the European Union (Horizon 2020), and the Ukrainian government.
