ZOiS Report on Russian Canadians Published

The ZOiS Report 1/2025, Russian Canadians: Views on Politics, History and Society, by Félix Krawatzek and Hakob Matevosyan, examines the views of Russian Canadians on politics, history and society. Canada is a multicultural country in which migrants with a (Soviet) Russian background form a relatively under-researched minority. Despite their good socio-economic integration and low visibility, the Kremlin considers this group a potential resource.

The report offers the first comprehensive insight based on a large sample: more than 500 people with (Soviet) Russian backgrounds and over 1,800 from the Canadian population as a whole were surveyed. In addition, family dynamics were examined across two generations. The results open up new perspectives on the experiences and attitudes of this community in Canada.
