Research Stay in New York City

03/02/2025

Our PhD student Sophia Winkler is embarking on a three-month research stay at the prestigious Jordan Center of New York University (NYU). The Jordan Center brings together scholars and students working on Russia from diverse disciplinary perspectives, fostering collaboration and exchange.

As a visiting scholar, Sophia is participating in events, connecting with experts across the Atlantic, and sharing our research insights in the U.S. She will finalise her first article on spaces of belonging in social media between Russia and Germany, and present it at the Annual NESEEES conference. Additionally, her second article—co-authored with Félix Krawatzek —will be showcased at a public event in early April and at ASN in May. The study focuses on how people with a Russian background living in Germany navigate contradictions online.

Sophia's stay is supported by a DAAD scholarship.
