New Publication: Views on Soviet History Among Russians and Ukrainians Prior to the 2022 Invasion
In August, Félix Krawatzek and George Soroka published the article ‘Fractured Pasts? Views on Soviet History Among Russians and Ukrainians Prior to the 2022 Invasion’ in Nationalities Papers.
The article analyses historical views in Russia and Ukraine prior to 2022, based on a survey conducted in January 2021. While there is little contradiction to state narratives in Russia, Ukraine has a fragmented culture of remembrance along linguistic lines. Russian citizens and Russian-speaking Ukrainians differ significantly in their views on Stalin and the Holodomor.
