Family Secret or Family Talk?
How are historical events remembered and passed on within families with Russian backgrounds?
Answers will be provided on 14 May at 7 p.m. in a lecture by Hakob Matevosyan at CeMig in Göttingen. Hakob Matevosyan will present initial findings from the MoveMeRU surveys. His lecture will focus on the transmission of historical knowledge and political socialisation within families, as well as on social debates about memory and remembrance. He will also examine how different narratives about history and politics are passed down or questioned across generations.
The survey results presented offer insights into these processes and enable a deeper examination of the transmission of historical and political attitudes between generations in one of the largest migrant communities in Germany.
The joint event with the Centre for Global Migration Studies (CeMig) and the Museum Friedland will take place in the Green Hall of the historic observatory in Göttingen. Registration is not required.
