Two years have passed since Putin's military invasion of Ukraine. During this time, society has come a long way trying to find new basics for everyday life, following the initial shock after February 24, 2022. Attendees of the conference were invited to discuss how this transition is reflected in the new institutional forms and individual practices.
The conference covered a wide range of topics, including the transformation of values, changes in the economy, the legal sphere, education, demography, academia, as well as obstacles in achieving sustainable development goals.
The purpose of the conference was to identify key aspects of the new reality in 2024, bring together researchers, and contribute to the formation of research communities and initiatives.

The conference was organised by Лаборатория "Академические Мосты" / Academic Bridges Laboratory.

Félix Krawatzek contributed to the conference as a speaker in the panel discussion “A look from the outside: Russian studies after 24.02.2022“.

About the Panel discussion A look from the outside: Russian studies after 24.02.2022

The key issue of the event focuses on the changes in the research practice in the area of Russian studies after February 24, 2022. Putin’s military invasion of Ukraine had a dramatic impact on the context of such research. On the one hand, the severity of the current international crisis and the obvious role of Russia in its determination and dynamics stimulated a significant increase of interest in any research projects focusing on the development of Russian government and society. On the other hand, implementation of particular research projects has been complicated  by a number of new restrictions that make the collection of reliable research data on Russian society difficult, expensive, and even dangerous. This panel discussion addresses the issues concerning the methodology and results of current research projects in the area of Russian studies which are carried out by representatives of foreign academic communities. It is planned as a public dialogue of foreign scholars directly involved in the organization of empirical research in the field of Russian studies after 02/24/2022 .
