Biography

Yulia Abibok is an independent researcher and journalist affiliated with various media outlets, including Liga.net, Media Initiative for Human Rights, OstroV, and the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO). She studied journalism at Donetsk National University and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, as well as History and Jewish Studies at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Central European University, and Paideia, the European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden.

Abibok has been a fellow in the Ukraine Research Network@ZOiS since September 2025. Her current research project focuses on local and displaced communities in Ukraine in the period from 2014 to 2025. She examines patterns of exclusion and inclusion to document and analyse ongoing changes or persistent problems related to experiences of forced displacement. The goal is to reduce tensions between internally displaced persons and their local neighbours.
