Biography

Michela Romano is a PhD candidate at the University of Bologna in the program Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures: Diversity and Inclusion, with a specialisation in World Literature within the Slavic studies area. She is currently involved in a project focused on contemporary Russian and Russophone dissident literatures with a focus on migrant writers in the city of Berlin, Germany. Born in Parma, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures (English and Russian) at the University of Bologna. She holds two Master’s degrees: one in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe (MIREES, University of Bologna, 2019) and another in Modern, Comparative and Postcolonial Literatures (University of Bologna, 2023). She has participated in conferences, summer schools, Erasmus programs, and research periods in Scotland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, and Armenia. Among her publications is (Post-/De-) Colonial Baltic Shades: The Latvian Case and its Global Breath (eSamizdat, 2021).
