Biography

Kostiantyn Fedorenko is a social scientist with a background in political science. He holds an MA in European and European Legal Studies from Europa-Kolleg Hamburg and a master’s degree with honours in Political Science from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He worked at ZOiS from 2019 to 2025, particularly on the MOBILISE project, which explored why some people protest in times of crisis while others choose to emigrate. He was responsible for the Ukrainian respondents and data analysis. He completed his PhD at the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS) at Humboldt-Universität in Berlin on the topic ‘From Molotov Cocktails to Farewell Parties: Causes of Emigration for Participants of the 2013-14 ‘Euromaidan’). 

Before joining ZOiS, Fedorenko worked as a political analyst at the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation in Kyiv, a think tank that aims to improve cooperation between Ukraine and the EU and NATO. He has frequently commented on domestic and European politics for some of the most reputable Ukrainian national media. He was previously a returning expert at the Centre for International Migration and Development of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit.
