Biography

Andriy Fert holds a master's degree in History (2016). He completed his PhD on the Orthodox Church in the late Soviet Union at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine. More recently, Andriy has been a research fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna (2023) and joined the international research project Postsecular Approach to Memory Processes in Central-Eastern Europe (Visegrad Fund, 2023–2024). Since 2017, he has been working for the Institute for International Cooperation of the Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V. (DVV), coordinating projects related to history education in secondary schools in Ukraine. He has been a member of the International Working Group on Lived Religion in Eastern Europe and Eurasia since 2019. Andriy joined ZOiS in 2023 to study the impact of the Russian war against Ukraine on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
