UNET Times: Launch of Magazine Marks Conclusion of Ukraine Research Network
Four years of successful research and networking on Ukraine-related topics at ZOiS have come to an end. With the publication of the UNET Times, the Ukraine Research Network@ZOiS (UNET) has taken stock of its work since it was launched in November 2022.
Produced by UNET's academic coordinator, Anastasiya Leukhina, and editor Anastasia Rodi, the magazine not only offers insights into the research topics and findings of the UNET fellows, but also reflects on how the war is affecting data collection, knowledge transfer and cooperation, and above all the people who research and work under these conditions.
Funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), the project was initiated shortly after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Its aim was to connect regional, conflict and migration research on Ukraine and make it more visible. To this end, it awarded one-year fellowships to Ukrainian researchers who either worked in Berlin or stayed in Ukraine and continued their research on the ground. In their projects, the fellows addressed a range of research topics, including migration and displacement, education, resilience, reconstruction and gender. The network also sought to make the expertise it had accumulated accessible to both experts and the wider public through various research communication formats.
