Evaluation
Six years after its foundation, ZOiS underwent an independent external evaluation. The science-led evaluation was carried out by a commission of international researchers and experts in the fields of research communication and governance under the leadership of Prof. Dr Eduard Mühle, who was then at the University of Münster. It was based on two central components: a self-presentation prepared by the institute and a site visit to ZOiS in November 2022.
The evaluation focused in particular on the institute’s research profile, its visibility in terms of research communication, and its strategic orientation and long-term outlook. The commission also addressed issues relating to the governance of ZOiS.
The commission's report and statements by ZOiS and its Foundation Board followed in the course of 2023. These three documents can now be viewed on the institute’s website. This marks the conclusion of the institute’s first successful evaluation. ZOiS is now entering a consolidation phase in which the comments and recommendations of the evaluation commission will be taken on board.
