ZOiS Annual Report 2021
2021 was dominated by our theme year #30PostSovietYears. Thirty years after the end of the Soviet Union, we traced the dynamics and consequences of the upheaval. In addition, a number of new research projects were launched, and, for the first time, a trainee begann her training in research communication at ZOiS.

Mobilisation in Russia - Disparities and Reactions
In conversation with Greg Yudin, Güzel Yuzupova and Nadja Douglas
The mobilisation affects broad segments of the Russian population, yet its effects are not evenly distributed and the reactions to the mobilisation are also varied. We look at how conscription is organised and how inequalities play out on the ground. We also discuss how the mobilisation affects regime support.

Conflicting views of the past are one of the biggest challenges in international relations: they can lead to confrontations but also serve as a means of reconciliation.
