Rostam Onsori is the editor of the Central Asian Analytical Digest (Zentralasien-Analysen), together with Richard Schmidt. He finished his Master Degree of Central Asian Studies at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2021. Onsori previously studied at the University of Leipzig and the University of Halle-Wittenberg, where he graduated in Geography and Anthropology. His main research interest is the post-Soviet transformation of the Tajik Pamirs with regard to the global self-positioning of local communities. Since 2014, he has completed annual research trips in Central Asia, mostly in the Pamir region, where he has conducted fieldwork in the remote Bartang Valley. Before joining ZOiS in January 2020, he worked as an interpreter for Persian languages, including Tajik.
