Biography
Alena Zelenskaia has been a research associate and doctoral candidate in the Collaborative Research Centre ‘Cultures of Vigilance’ at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich since October 2019. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Irene Götz, she is writing about marriage migration from third countries to Germany. In addition, Alena has been a fellow of the Oxford-based Europaeum programme since February 2022, where she is part of a team co-developing a project on the dignity of the work carried out by seasonal agricultural workers. Before coming to Germany, Alena taught and researched at the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. She holds a Master's degree in Anthropology from the European University in Saint Petersburg and a Master's degree in International Relations from Saint Petersburg State University. Alena was also an exchange student in the USA and at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
From mid-April to the end of June, Alena Zelenskaia is a visiting researcher at ZOiS. She will regularly participate in the reading circle of the MoveMeRU project and contribute to the ongoing discussions. In addition, Alena plans to be inspired by the theoretical foundations of the MoveMeRU project to design a project on elderly Ukrainian refugees in Germany in order to apply for a postdoctoral position.
